And skinny guys who eat big meals.
The racers’ journals are stacking up, I need to find a home for them, pronto! So stay tuned while we build everyone a corner where they can tell their tales, spin the yarn, an share the war stories. From what I’ve heard of Sue’s battle wounds, “war story” isn’t too far off the mark!
No commentsDual Coastal Wrap UP
You’d be challenged to find a team that’s taken a wider and more diverse shot-gun approach to the past weekend than the MonavieCannondale.com’s effort on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
The crew of Matt Ohran, Sue Butler, Leana Gerrard, Roger Gillispie, Bart Gillispie, and Mitchell Peterson headed out to Fontana, CA for the first round of the NMBS events for their SemiPro Men XC, Pro Women XC/STXC (and SuperD), Pro Women 4X and Downhill, Master Expert XC, and Pro Men’s XC/STXC races, respectively (whew).
Throw in Blake Harlan, Bryan Alders, and Sager racing the UCI class 1 Ultimate Dirt Challenge in Rincon, Puerto Rico, and you have 13 MonaVie starts and 5 podiums in one weekend.
Jason Sager winning the Ultimate Dirt Challenge alongside National Champion and women’s UDC winner, Mary McConneloug.

Ultimate Dirt Challenge podium in Rincon, Puerto Rico.
2nd place Blake on the U23 podium, Rincon, Puerto Rico
And this isn’t including Leana’s 4th in the Fontana Four Cross, Mitchell’s 2nd in the U23 XC at Fontana, or Alder’s top 10 at the Ultimate Dirt challenge.
I will leave you with a glimpse of the post-race celebrations from here in Puerto Rico, where everyone is made to feel like a superstar.
Next up for the Stateside crew is NMBS #2 in Fountain Hills, AZ, where Tinker will make his MonaVie/Cannondale team debut in Friday’s marathon event, while the Caribbean crew tackles the UCI’s Monagas MTB Challenge in San Juan, Puerto Rico, before returning for a reunion of sorts at the Sea Otter Classic in mid-April, in Monterey, California.
Stay tuned, and if you’re in California, please visit Jamie Whitmore’s site for information about Jamie’s ride in Auburn, CA, this Saturday, April 5th.
